And the Bronze Metal goes to...

I'm awarding myself a bronze metal for the UFOlympics. My goal was to complete the kimino cardigan I started last fall. I was exactly have way through when I put it down to do my Christmas knitting. On Friday I finished up all the knitting. All I have left is to seam it (only 2 seams) and block it.

I also finished the Lady Detective hat I started last August. Not a bad week's work. Photos later.

If I could read I'd be dangerous..

Or, how to waste three perfectly good hours of knitting.

Friday morning I took my car in for an oil change and it's 100,000 mile service. I brought my UFOlympics project - a kimono style cardigan knit as one piece. I started on it last fall and then set it aside for christmas knitting. I knit and knit and knit. A great way to pass time at a car dealership. After about two hours, I realized that my sleeve looked kinda funny. At this point I decide to take a look at the pattern. I had done EIGHT too many repeats!!! That translated to 48 rows to be ripped back. I couldn't bear to frog it in public - I had just finished showing it to somebody who was so impressed with my skill. After I got home I spent about an hour ripping out those extra rows so that I could bind off and proceed with the front of the sweater.

Photos!

I have finally uploaded pictures to Flickr and Ravelry! Yippee. Now to try it here.

This is the blanket I made for my newest niece. I finished it up just in time for the suprise baby shower on June 1. The suprise was that baby Kate made her debut on May 22!

I've also finished up some other things. I finished my fern lace stole (pattern from the Stitch a Day calendar) on Saturday, and it is currently being blocked on my dining room table.

Now I just need to practice my photography and post once in a while.

Oh Well....

It's been a busy couple of weeks. I got through one whole sock and part of another before I decided that they were majorly too big for Marie. I finally ripped them out and have started again. This time it should work because I now have an outline of Marie's foot. The gift is no longer a surprise - except for when it'll be finished!

My training for the 10K has been derailed. My poor treadmill died on me. It looks like it's something electronic and since the thing is 9 years old, it's probably not worth fixing. It's now just a really big paper weight.

Happy birthday to me!

Friday was my birthday and I had a good week-end. Friday night my wonderful husband made dinner while I just sat and knitted. What a treat that was. On Saturday my order from the Loopy Ewe arrived. I started right away on a pair of socks using one of the yarns in my order. My sister made my family birthday dinner and that was full of suprises. My cousin and her daughter came from Culpeper and it was great because I hadn't seen them in months - which is shameful considering how close they live. My nieces from Harrisonburg also suprised me by comming. It all makes you wish you had birthdays more often!

Priorities...

With the price of oil painfully high, and there being a 15o gallon minimum purchase, I decided that we didn't have enough cash on hand to order until next week (payday).

So instead I put in an order with the Loopy Ewe. It wasn't a very big order, and I've been told that sock yarn doesn't count as stash. One skein is for a belated Christmas present and the other one is for me. Both are yarns I haven't used before. That's one of my goals for this year - to play with as many different sock yarns as I can.
